SGI is warning customers about an email scam circulating claiming to be from the Crown corporation.

While the subject line and text vary, the emails cover subjects such as residency confirmation and registration requests. SGI says it does not contact customers via email to receive this kind of information.

These emails may look convincing, but customers are being asked to approach all emails claiming to be SGI with a skeptical eye and never click on a link until you are 100 per cent sure it is a legitimate email. If you discover that the email is fraudulent, don't click on any links, report the email as spam and delete the email.

If you are unsure if an email claiming to be SGI is legitimate, contact your local licence issuer or the SGI Customer Service Centre at 1-844-TLK-2SGI (855-2744). Do not use the phone number or email address provided in the suspect email.
