Nicholas Hoult, who appeared in the highly regarded black-comedy horror film The Menu, is the other main actor. The movie spent time in Didsbury to shoot scenes.

The Silent Brotherhood, penned by award-winning journalist Kevin Flynn and co-author Gary Gerhardt, served as the inspiration for The Order. The book details the inner workings of The Silent Brotherhood, one of the most dangerous domestic terror organizations in the United States.

Oscar-nominated American screenwriter Zach Baylin wrote the screenplay for the movie, with Director Justin Kurzel, who directed Assassin's Creed and Macbeth, starring Michael Fassbender, directed the thriller.

The film is set in the early 1980s, following a series of violent bank robberies across America's Pacific Northwest, which leave law enforcement struggling to pin down the suspects. An F.B.I agent (Law) who works out of the bucolic town of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, begins to suspect that the bank heists are not for financial gain but are carried out by a group of domestic terrorists and are being inspired by a cult-like, captivating leader (Hoult).
