Roman Ewanishin
July 3, 1940 – December 2, 2024
The death of Mr. Roman John Ewanishin, 84 years, of Humboldt and formerly of Bruno, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital on Monday, December 2, 2024. Roman was born on July 3, 1940 in Bruno to Thomas and Annie (nee Polanik) Ewanishin. He grew up on the farm and attended school in Bruno. Following his education, he began farming with his dad. On August 15, 1964 Roman married Sheila Indzeoski. They made their home on his grandfather’s homestead, running both a grain and livestock operation. Roman was a school bus driver for 29 years, taking care to get the children safely to and from school each day. In 2021, Roman and Sheila moved to Humboldt. Sheila passed away that December and Roman continued to live at the Harry Ford Center until his passing. For many years their holiday getaway from the farm was attending the National Ukrainian Festival in Dauphin, MB each summer. Roman was very mechanically inclined and was able to fix most anything on the farm. He was also handy at making many things out of metal and wood. They caringly tended to their garden and Roman especially enjoyed taking care of their fruit trees in his little orchard. Roman and Sheila were regulars on coffee row and enjoyed the time spent visiting with friends. Roman continued to go for coffee at A & W once they moved to Humboldt. Roman will be lovingly remembered by his three sons, two daughters-in-law, and five grandchildren: Randy (Tanya) Ewanishin of Fort Saskatchewan, AB and their children Miranda, Alyssa, and Bradon; Richard Ewanishin of Melfort; and Elliott (Randene) Ewanishin of Humboldt and their children Cole and Daenen; sister Antonia (Mike) Siermachesky; brother Tony (Sandra) Ewanishin and sister-in-law Rose Ewanishin; brother-in-law Jerome (Marg) Indzeoski; sister-in-law Gladys Lenyk; and numerous nieces and nephews. Roman was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Annie Ewanishin; wife Sheila Indzeoski; grandson Devin Ewanishin; brothers Larry Ewanishin (in infancy) and Mike Ewanishin; father-and-mother-in-law Tony and Mary Indzeoski; and brother-in-law John Indzeoski (in infancy). The Funeral Service for Roman was held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home & Crematorium, Humboldt, officiated by Fr. Pius Schroh. Interment will take place at a later date in the St. Augustine Columbarium. Memorial donations in Roman’s memory may be made to the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation – General Equipment Fund.
