The Loewen family is facing a heartbreaking loss after a fire destroyed their home in Macoun on Sunday night. In response, the community has come together to support the family.
A social media post shared news of the fire, urging locals to help. "The Loewen family—Cody, Chantelle, Kensley, and Brexley—were devastated by a fire last night. As a close-knit community, we want to offer our support in any way we can," the post read. "We are urgently seeking clothing donations for the family."
Clothing donations are being sought in the following sizes:
- Youth size 10-12 for the girls
- Women’s medium
- Men’s 1XL-2XL
Shoe donations are also being sought in these sizes:
- Men’s size 14
- Women’s size 9
- Girls’ size 3
In addition to clothing, cash donations are being collected to help the family focus on rebuilding and healing. E-transfers can be sent to loewenfamilyaid@gmail.com or chantelleloewen@gmail.com. Cash and cheques can also be dropped off at the Macoun Village Office or Macoun Co-op.
The Macoun Co-op also shared a message of support. "As most of you know, we have had a family tragedy in our area with one of our families," the post read. "We are accepting cash donations and clothing drop-offs for the Loewen family. Our hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday."
