Christmas is just around the corner, and the excitement is palpable as Santa Claus himself made a special visit to Golden West! Joining us all the way from the North Pole, the jolly man in red brought festive cheer and some delightful insights into his preparations for the big night.

A buzz of activity at the North Pole

When asked about the mood at the North Pole, Santa described it as electric. “The elves are working around the clock, the reindeer are in peak condition, and Mrs. Claus is baking enough cookies to fuel us all through the big night,” he said, painting a picture of a bustling, cheerful workshop.

Updates for local kids

Santa shared some encouraging words for children in the Pembina Valley. “My list is longer than ever, but I’ve been checking it twice. I’ve got some very good boys and girls in the Pembina Valley, and I can’t wait to visit. Just make sure you’re in bed early, kids, and don’t forget to leave out some treats. Carrots for the reindeer are always appreciated too.”

Years of experience and a love for cookies

Despite the enormous task of delivering gifts worldwide in one night, Santa remains confident. “After all these years, I’ve got it down to a science. Not to worry, I’ve been doing this job for thousands of years. I’ve got it all figured out,” he chuckled.

As for his secret to staying youthful, Santa credits hard work and play. “I work hard, but I make sure to play with the reindeer and the elves too. Keeps me young.” And when it comes to cookies, he revealed, “I love all cookies, but if I had to choose, I’d say a good classic chocolate chip. But I’ve got a soft spot for all homemade cookies with a little sprinkle of love.”

Heartwarming gifts and memorable requests

Santa cherishes the small, heartfelt gifts he sometimes receives. “Every so often, a child will leave me a little drawing or note. Those are the best gifts of all. And Mrs. Claus always surprises me with something special. Last year, it was a new pair of fuzzy slippers. I love them.”

Santa also shared one of the most unique gift requests he’s ever received: “One year, a little girl asked for a baby elephant. Now that was a tricky one to explain, but I managed to leave her a stuffed elephant instead. She loved it just as much.”

No chimney? No problem.

For those without a chimney, Santa reassures: “Not to worry. I’ve got the Magic Key that lets me into any home. I never leave anyone out, no matter where they live, even if they live in an apartment.”

When asked about his favorite places to visit, Santa spoke fondly of our hometowns. “There’s just something so warm and inviting about communities within the Pembina Valley. Flying over snowy fields and sparkling lights is pure magic.”

Mischievous elves and naughty list updates

Santa’s elves are always up to something. “Last week, one of them wrapped my boots in gift paper as a joke. Took me a good five minutes to figure out why I couldn’t get them on,” he laughed.

As for the naughty list, Santa had this to say: “The nice list is quite full this year.". And though the naughty list was minimal in the Pembina Valley, Santa was relieved to report that all residents made it to the nice list, just in time. (Even Country 88.9 FM Host Tyler Hildebrand).

Advice from Santa

Santa concluded with heartfelt advice for kids and adults alike: “Kindness is the best gift you can give. Whether helping your friends, sharing your toys, or saying thank you, acts of kindness make a big difference. Listen to your parents—they’re like my elves, working hard to help you grow and learn. And remember, the best part of Christmas isn’t just presents. It’s the love, laughter, and joy you share with your family and friends.”
