Frances Clara Schroeder
May 26, 1931 – December 26, 2024

Frances was born May 26, 1931 to Robert and Adina (nee Weiss) Briske. She grew up on the family farm in the RM of Prairie Rose, SK. She attended the Prairie Rose School for 8 years. In her late teens, she started work at the drug store in LeRoy. At the age of 20, Frances married James Schroeder on October 16, 1951 in LeRoy, SK, and became a mother and farm wife, helping James on the farm until his death.

Frances’ greatest passion in life was her family. She would sew, bake, cook, garden, and work hard at teaching her kids to pray. She had a steadfast, open-minded faith. Her time was spent raising the children, homemaking and helping James with the farmwork.  Her least favourite job was milking cows, as she considered “cows” the worst four-letter word! However, she separated the cream from the milk, sold the cream for income, and also made lots of butter and cottage cheese. No matter who came into her kitchen, or when they arrived, they were fed and watered!

Frances was predeceased by her husband James Schroeder; daughter Lynda (Eldon) Schroeder; daughter-in-law Sylvia Schroeder; parents Robert and Adina Briske; her five sisters: Ida Briske (in infancy), Katherine Briske, Christina (Ted) Braitenbach, Veronica (Gus) Kotschorek, and Johanna (Otto) Schroeder, as well as nephews: Lawrence Kotschorek and Robert Schroeder, and niece Darlene (Larry) Erber; and six of James’s siblings, their spouses and three nieces.

Frances is survived by her three children:

Daughter LYNDA’S family: Karl (Kristina) Schroeder and son Jake, and Derek Schroeder (Andrea Lutz) and her children Mercedes, Jett and Luke;

Daughter LEILA (Rick) Dornan and their family: Jenn (Greg) Jalbert and daughter Zoe, Kendra (Brandon) Kobley and children Brie and Noah, and Kate Dornan (Greg Dong);

Son ALLEN Schroeder and his family: Matthew (Barbara Sagh) and his daughter Olivia and her daughters Sierra, and Mya, Dustin (Krista) and children Dmitri and Kendrick, and Miranda (Rolando Lluveras) and children Isabel and Gabriel;

Daughter LORELEI (Murray) Orchard and their family: Marlon (Anne) and sons Reed and Riley, and Heidi (Lee) Heise and children Peyton, Avery, Everett, Maddison (Nathan) Smart, and sons Winston and Hudson, Morgan Heise (Lauren) and Max Heise (Vienna).

A Funeral Mass for Frances was held on Saturday, January 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lanigan, SK, celebrated by Fr. Augustine Osei-Bonsu. A Private Interment will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in memory of Frances may be directed to Lanigan Hospital Lodge Auxiliary) or St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund (Jansen).
