A wonderful musical Valentine’s Day outing is on the way to Watson with a pair of Saskatchewan performing gems.
Ellen Froese and Lachlan Neville will be making their way to the Watson Legion Hall on Friday, February 14 for a special show together. The singer-songwriters each took a turn on the stage at the Watson Museum, and they’ve joined forces for a series of shows including the weekend stop in Watson.
Ellen Froese has garnered attention across Canada for her spirited song writing, wry commentary and a deep well of musical performance abilities. Her latest album, “For Each Flower Growing,” breaks ground with the depth and richness of its production, but also with the songs. Always quick to catch a brilliant turn of phrase, Ellen’s song writing craft is next level on the album. The songs are deep, sometimes confessional, with a beautiful vocal performance enhanced by an airy, spacy sound.
Lachlan Neville is a roots and folk phenom who stepped onto the stage last year in Watson and captivated the crowd at the Museum with his original songs and the depth of classics interpretations. At the heart of the performance were Neville’s own compositions and his delivery of them. The depth and lyrical sophistication of his work goes well beyond his years. The songs had a gypsy spirit of someone who had seen much in his travels and has travelled widely. Places like Brownsville, TX, Arizona, or Cedar Rapids, IA populated his landscapes and seemed like one-time homes instead of imagined landscapes.
Both artists bring their unique styles and the merging of these two musical nomads promises to make for a great evening of entertainment. For tickets call or text (306) 287-7130.
