Rocky View County is accepting nominations for the Master Farm Family Award, which recognizes farm families for their contributions to farming, sustainability, and community service.
The award, presented since 1989, honours families that have significantly contributed to agriculture in the local community.
2024 Winner: Woolliams Farms Ltd.
The 2024 recipient, Woolliams Farms Ltd., is owned and operated by 5th-generation farmers Larry and Kortney Woolliams, along with their children Paige and Trace.
The family farm has been in operation since 1890 and evolved from one of the area's first dairy farms into a modern grain farming operation. The family uses precision agriculture to improve efficiency and sustainability.
The Woolliams family is also active in the Airdrie 4-H Beef and Sheep Club, where Larry has served as Project Leader for seven years. The family purchases animals yearly to support the 4-H on Parade livestock auction.
Nominations for the Master Farm Family Award are open until February 28. The winner will be announced at the County Agricultural Tour this summer.
