A warm air mass will move into Manitoba on Friday early in the morning, bringing warmer temperatures and snow.
"We do have a warm front that is approaching from the west," says James Colangelo, a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada. "That will be arriving in Manitoba sometime early Friday morning."
The system will bring with it some precipitation.
"With that, we'll see some snowfall. We could see around 2-4 centimetres for most of the province. We'll see some lingering flurries throughout Friday and into Friday night before the system exits Saturday morning."
After a week of extreme cold weather across southern Manitoba, the warm front will bring rising temperatures.
"We'll be seeing temperatures in the mid-minus single digits on Friday which will be a nice change from what we've been experiencing."
There will also be winds gusting between 30 and 50 km/h throughout Friday as well, which could cause some visibility issues for people driving, especially on the highways.
Warmer winter temperatures are expected throughout the weekend.
The long-range forecast for Steinbach calls for a high of -3 on Sunday and +2 on Monday.
"While I can't say for sure, it looks like the big cold snap that we've been seeing is over for the foreseeable future."
