In southern Alberta, RCMP warns drivers about hazardous road conditions, particularly along highways from Airdrie to Red Deer, including Olds and Bowden.

Black ice and severe winds are making roads treacherous, with limited stopping ability over short distances. Drivers are urged to reduce speeds, drive cautiously, and avoid non-essential travel until conditions improve.

Environment Canada forecasts a few rain showers or flurries transitioning to flurries before ending this evening, followed by partly cloudy skies. Winds will ease to light, with temperatures dropping to -10 and a wind chill of -17 overnight.

Friday brings a mix of sun and cloud with increasing northwest winds gusting to 60 km/h by late morning. The high will reach -3, with wind chills of -16 in the morning and -11 in the afternoon. Friday night will see clearing skies and a low of -17, with a wind chill of -19 overnight.

Motorists are encouraged to monitor weather and road conditions before heading out and ensure vehicles are equipped for winter driving.
