This week's Airdrie Techmation Thunder Spotlight belongs to Jaxson Black.

The Airdrie Techmation Thunder picked up a win and a loss over the weekend. Friday, they suffered what was their seventh loss in a row, this time to the Three Hills Thrashers 5-2, but they snapped that streak Saturday, beating the Agra Risk Wheatland Kings 4-2. The Thunder now have a record of 15-19-2 and sit fourth in the north division.

Head Coach and General Manager Mark Kulynych shared that this weekend was his first action of the season.

"He came off of concussion protocol and was a solid defender for the team, helping shut down a top team in the league and started his return off strong."

Kulynych explained it has been awesome to see him come back into the lineup and make a difference.

"It’s never easy to see a young player potentially have to hang them up early due to injury. Jaxson is a well-liked player in the room and has been a great addition late in the season. Let’s hope we can gain some momentum and make some noise in the playoffs."

Black is still looking for his first points of the season. He is excited to be back with the team.

"It feels good to be back in the room with the boys and be able to talk to them all the time. Getting that win against the Kings hopefully helped us find our stride."

Working on his conditioning is one of the things he is working on with the playoffs just around the corner.

"Getting my cardio back will help me play more minutes and help the boys out when needed."

The Thunder are wrapping up the regular season this weekend, the Rocky Rams are visiting the Rom Ebbesen Arena at 8 p.m. tomorrow. On Saturday they visit the Three Hills Thrashers. Who they are player in the playoffs is yet to be determined.

He finished off by saying he hopes these final two games will help them get the momentum they need for when the playoffs start right after.
