Town of Okotoks residents are able to provide input in what the RCMP and Okotoks Municipal Enforcement are prioritizing this year.

The RCMP and the Okotoks Municipal Enforcement have a public survey open, where residents and business owners are able to provide input on the policing needs in the community.

"Safety is a shared responsibility, and your input will help us identify safety priorities in our community. We encourage all Okotoks residents and business owners to take part," explained Vikram Kulkarni, Municipal Enforcement Manager for the Town of Okotoks, in a media release.

As part of the online survey, they are asking for input on things like the general safety in Town and people's interactions with the local RCMP.

Last year's survey had received 469 responses, and the Public Safety Open House they held in addition to the survey had 65 community members in attendance.

The information they had received helped to create the 2024 Municipal Enforcement priorities and RCMP Annual Performance Plan, which received approval at the April 22, 2024, town council meeting.

"The public safety survey is a great opportunity for the Okotoks RCMP and Municipal Enforcement teams to hear from community members about safety concerns in their neighbourhoods," said the Detachment Commander for the Okotoks RCMP, Mike Zinck, in the media release. "The results from this survey play an important role in developing our policing priorities for the upcoming year."
