Betty Janet Konner
August 18, 1946 - February 15, 2025
Betty Janet (née Jautz) Konner, passed away peacefully at Porteous Lodge, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She was 78 years of age. Betty was born on August 18, 1946, to Gus and Norma (née Bowman) Jautz on their family farm 11 miles southwest of Humboldt, SK. Her father acted as a doctor for her delivery. She was the second youngest of eight children and grew up enjoying life on the farm. Betty went to Hillsley School for eight years, then went on to graduate from the Humboldt Collegiate. On February 19, 1966, Betty married Armand Konner from the Carmel District. Together, they had four daughters and lived on the family farm for over five years. In 1971, the family moved to Humboldt and lived there for six years until they bought a house in Marysburg, SK. After Armand passed away in August of 1996 Betty moved back to Humboldt and then a few years later moved to Saskatoon. Betty was a hard worker throughout her life until her health required her to retire. She mainly worked as a cook or waitress in various restaurants in Humboldt, her favorite place being Mario's Steak and Pizza House. She also worked in janitorial and her last position in Saskatoon was as a housekeeper for an elderly German couple. Betty loved sharing family dinners with her daughters and their families, especially when everyone could gather together at the same time. Some of Betty's favorite pastimes were reading, knitting, and gardening. She also loved collecting things and had quite a collection of books and stuffed animals (all of which had names). Her biggest pride and joy were her salt and pepper shaker sets that she started collecting as a child when she won a rooster and hen set for getting first on a test in the poultry club. She proudly had the sets on display and enjoyed sharing the story of where she collected each set. When Betty's health took a turn, and she had to be moved to the care home her daughters realized just how many she had collected over the years! She will be sadly missed by all who knew her, especially her four daughters, their husbands, seven grandchildren, and two great grandsons. Betty is survived by: daughter Denise (Doug) Hogemann of St. Gregor, SK. - their family: Natasha (Ryan) Thomsen, their children: Ronin and Malachi of Edmonton, AB, and Tyler Hogemann of St. Gregor, SK; daughter Norma (Brent) Gursky of Calgary, AB. - their daughter: Kari (Adam) Curtis of Calgary, AB; daughter Brenda (Keith) Lakness of Veteran, AB - their family: Michelle Konner of Canmore, AB, and Kimberly Konner of Hanna, AB; daughter Wanda (Kevin) Boyko of Hafford, SK - their family: Michael Boyko, of Saskatoon, SK, and Chelsea Boyko of Saskatoon, SK; three sisters: Marie Becker, Linda Ardiel, and Pauline (Tim) Stumborg; brother Gus (Elsie) Jautz; sister-in-law Marlene Schmidt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
