Jayden Hagen-Beckett is a 16-year-old girl who has recently been diagnosed with APL Leukemia, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. She is in Saskatoon right now receiving several forms of treatment.
To support the family's expenses during this difficult time, a rib dinner has been organized for Saturday between 4 and 8 p.m. at Bugsy's Irish Pub, or 4 to 7 p.m. at Smitty's in the Town & Country Mall.
"It's pretty serious as she's taken a lot of different types of treatments. We're a group of people that met her and her family at a dog park, so this is how we've come to know them," said Elaine Gille, one of the dinner organizers.
Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased at Hub Meat Market, or by calling Elaine Gille 306-690-4643 or Carol Miller 306-690-3549.
"We're also going to have a penny parade starting at 4 p.m. in the mall in front of Smitty's on Saturday. People can purchase tickets, and we have a lot of prizes to be won as you can bring donations as well," said Carol Miller, another event organizer.
Jayden’s fight is far from over, but with the continued support of friends, family, and the community, her family remains hopeful.
