Corrine Delia (nee Lingl) Weiman
November 29, 1935 – February 20, 2025
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, Corrine Weiman of St. Mary’s Villa, Humboldt, Sask., formerly of Bruno, Sask. Corrine was born to Albert and Thelma (nee Dagenais) Lingl on November 29, 1935. She had three brothers, Zotique, Richard and Gordon (usually referred to as Coochy) and two sisters, Marie (died in infancy) and Bernice. Mom attended Pleasant Grove School, northeast of Bruno, and completed Grade 8. In the winter, they would be driven by caboose to school. Mom loved to play ball and was a fast runner. That must have been where her kids got their racing legs from! Corrine worked at various local farms helping cook and clean. After that, she spent 1 ½ years working at the Cudworth Hospital doing much the same type of work. Shortly thereafter, she met her future husband, Lawrence Weiman, at one of the area’s well-known George Weiman’s barn dances. They got married on November 16, 1954. There was so much snow that day that everyone was getting stuck! After they got married, they lived on the Weiman homestead with Lawrence’s mom and dad, brother, Tony and his wife Florence, and brothers, Clemence and Elmer. Just a few tricks were played on Corrine by those Weiman boys! Corrine always loved a good joke and was always looking for the fun in life! After six months or so, they moved to the Town of Bruno and bought their first home across from the rink where they started their family. They were blessed with three children, David, Brian and Joan. While they lived in Bruno, they built, bought and rented many houses. Corrine would paint, clean, pull nails; whatever it took to help get the job done! Corrine started her cooking career at the Ursuline Convent in Bruno in 1963. She worked there for 32 years and retired when she turned 60. Many, many hours were spent there cooking, baking, canning and learning many new recipes that we still enjoy today. Mom never had idle hands. Some of her hobbies were crocheting, knitting, quilting, baking, doing jigsaw puzzles, gardening, playing cards, and visiting with friends and neighbors. They spent many nights playing cards to the wee hours of the morning and then off to work in the morning. When mom and dad retired, they became very active board members of the Bruno Friendship Centre. Mom was the Treasurer for many years, and they volunteered endlessly for any project going on there. In addition, mom was a member of the Bruno CWL. This would be her 60th year and she served as a Treasurer during part of her time on the board. One of mom’s greatest joys were her four grandchildren and later her seven great-grandchildren. She loved babysitting, dancing, playing cards with them, and loving them to bits! Unfortunately, dad passed away on January 18, 2012. Mom continued living in Bruno until August 2019 when she then moved to The Elizabeth in Humboldt. She enjoyed living there and being served a meal and not having to do the dishes!! In 2022 mom started the nursing home circuit, ending at St. Mary’s Villa in Humboldt where she passed away peacefully. Mom will be forever loved and missed by her three children: DAVID of Goodeve, Sask., BRIAN (Carol, nee Dust) of Bruno, Sask. and their daughters, Jenna (Kyle) Hale and their family, Harper, Kaci and Dax, Jessica (Carson) Saretsky and their family, Josie and Axel, JOAN (Neil) Manderscheid of Bruno, Sask., and their son, Ian (Carmen) and their family, Kadence and Keegan; one brother, Gordon (Irene) Lingl and their two sons, Darcy (Arleen) Lingl and family, Nicholas and Natasha, all of Preeceville, Sask., and Terry (Debbie) Lingl of Warman, Sask; one sister, Bernice (Anton) Schmidt of Preeceville; one niece, Genny Bradwell, (daughter of Richard Lingl) and her daughter, Nicole (Rob) Franke and their children, Heather and Connor, all of Calgary, AB; one nephew, Gerald Lingl (son of Richard Lingl) of Maple Ridge, BC; one sister-in-law, Mary Weiman; and one step-sister-in-law, Erna Glaser; and many nieces and nephews.
