Showcase High River was like a mini-trade show on Saturday.

Dozens of local businesses from High River and Foothills County flocked to the Highwood Centre from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. for the third annual event.

From local businesses to non-profit groups, they intermingled with guests and each other, furthering relationships within our community.

High River's Chamber of Commerce organized it again and Executive Director Lisa Szabon-Smith was thrilled with how the day went.

"I want to say thank you to all of our vendors and booth holders here. It's been a fabulous day, thanks to all the residents who've come out to check out Showcase High River. And to the business owners who are just so confidently pressing onwards."

With potential tariffs being imposed by the U.S.A. tomorrow (March 4) it was a crucial time for businesses to network.

Szabon-Smith stressed how important it is to shop local and support one another as we move forward.  She was very grateful for the support from local businesses.

"It's the backbone of these people that make the community. We can live in the town, but if we don't have a thriving business community, we don't really have a town. So, thank you so much for all of your hard efforts.

We should have always been doing this. We should always be shopping local; we should be seeking what we need in our community first and then expand out if we need to.  I think what's beautiful about this is the conversation is natural, it's not forced, it's just happening now."

You could hear some conversations with business owners and some of the non-profit service groups to see how they could support each other more in the future.
