Snowfall continues across the region today, with Airdrie and the area expecting to see up to 10 centimetres before conditions clear overnight.

While Airdrie is not under a snowfall warning, Environment Canada has issued alerts for areas west and north of the city, including areas near and around Kananaskis Country and Mountain View County, which covers communities such as Sundre.

These areas could see up to 10 centimetres of snow by this afternoon, with reduced visibility and difficult travel conditions expected. The snowfall is forecast to taper off by this evening.

Locally, Airdrie will see a high of 2 C today, with snow at times heavy. Skies will clear this evening, though there remains a 30 per cent chance of lingering flurries. Winds up to 15 km/h will push overnight temperatures down to -9 C, with a wind chill of -12.

Tuesday will bring a mix of sun and cloud in the morning before clearing near noon. A high of 4 C is expected, though the morning wind chill could make it feel closer to -11. Overnight, temperatures will drop to -9 C under clear skies.

Highway 2 remains in good shape, with bare and dry conditions reported from Calgary city limits north past the Highway 2A junction.

Conditions deteriorate slightly east of Airdrie along Highway 72, where partial snow coverage and icy shoulders have been reported.

West of the city, Highway 22 is experiencing more variable conditions. There are slushy and icy sections, particularly along the shoulders. Snow is actively falling in some areas, but visibility remains good.

North of Airdrie, snowfall in Mountain View County—including Sundre—could lead to worsening road conditions throughout the day.

With overnight temperatures dropping below freezing, roads in and around Airdrie and impacted areas may become more hazardous, especially on bridges, overpasses, and less-traveled routes where ice can form.

Drivers are urged to adjust their driving to changing road conditions and use caution, particularly in areas with slushy or icy surfaces.
