The Northwestern Health Unit will be hosting two COVID-19 vaccine walk-in clinics in the region today (November 17, 2021).

The clinics will be in Kenora, and Fort Frances. Kenora residents can find their clinic at the Super 8 Motel (240 Lakeview Dr) from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The walk-in clinic in Fort Frances will be at the St. Micheal’s School (820 Fifth St E) from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

First doses:
- Anyone aged 12+ in 2021 can get the first dose

Second doses:
- Anyone aged 12+ in 2021 can get their second dose if they received:
- Pfizer at least 21 days ago or Moderna 28 days ago,
- Or AstraZeneca at least 56 days ago.

Third Doses:

-Eligible groups (if second dose was at least 6 months or 168 days ago):

-Anyone aged 70 and over (born in 1951 or earlier)

-First Nation, Inuit, and Métis adults and their family/household members

-People who received a complete series of a viral vector vaccine (2 doses of AstraZeneca or 1 dose of Janssen)

-Health care workers and designated essential caregivers in congregate settings

-People living in a retirement home, elder care lodge, or are a person living in a congregate setting for seniors

The following populations also qualify at a different interval since their second dose:

-People with certain medical conditions or who are on specific medications who had their second dose at least 2 months (56 days) ago

Walk-in appointments will be accepted, but you can also book an appointment by calling 1-866-468-2240.

The Northwestern Health Unit continues to see an increase in vaccination numbers across the region. The latest statistics showed that 89.8 per cent of those eligible have gotten one dose, and 84.6 per cent are fully immunized.

Province-wide, 88.8 per cent of Ontarians have rolled up their sleeves and received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 85.6 are fully immunized.

The NWHU is reporting 130, 511 doses of the vaccine have been administered across the region.
