One new COVID-19 case has been reported by the Northwestern Health Unit.

The new case was found in the Dryden/Red Lake Health Region.

Follow up with the person involved and their contacts has started according to protocol. Anyone who is identified as a contact for this case will be contacted directly.

Currently, there is only one active case connected to the NWHU catchment area.

In Ontario, 512 new COVID-19 cases were discovered in the province on Wednesday.

Of the new cases today, 250 involve people who are unvaccinated, 19 involve partially vaccinated individuals, 202 are in those who are fully vaccinated, and 41 involve people with an unknown vaccination status.

NWHU recommends that everyone, including those who have been vaccinated, assume COVID-19 is in their community and practise preventive measures like physical distancing, wearing a mask in enclosed public spaces and when physical distancing is a challenge, good hand hygiene, and not touching their face. Anyone who has symptoms, or who has been in contact with a positive case, should self-isolate and get tested.  For information about getting tested, please visit the NWHU website for instructions on how to schedule an appointment at an assessment centre.
