Okotoks Municipal Enforcement (OME) presented their 2024 Annual Report at the Feb. 24 town council meeting.
Highlights included traffic enforcement, which saw an average of nine traffic patrols a day, increasing visibility in an attempt to deter speeding.
Over the course of 2024, officers reported 1,599 speeding incidents, a 51 per cent increase from the 1,061 in 2023.
A total of 1,265 speeding tickets were issued, representing a 57 per cent increase compared to the 804 from 2023.
The increase in tickets was attributed not only to increased patrols, but to the implementation of the e-Ticketing system.
OME's work to address graffiti in town was also highlighted.
In 2024, graffiti complaints saw a 72 per cent decrease compared to the year prior.
Officers have remained vigilant since the sharp increase in graffiti in the summer of 2022, and according to the report, officers have identified perpetrators in the last two years who were charged or assigned community service.
The report can be seen on the Feb. 24 Okotoks Town Council Agenda.
