A High River couple had their vehicles vandalized last night and a rock was thrown through their front window.

Garrett Farinelli is an American who married a Canadian woman who grew up in High River.

They fly both American and Canadian flags at their home.

Farinelli said that he didn't hear anything last night, but when he went to go to work before 6 a.m. he discovered what happened.

"I saw a rock in front of my doorstep, I thought 'Oh, that's weird', I didn't think to look at my windows, I walk out, and I see my wife's passengers side-mirror smashed. Then I went to my Jeep, I looked at my right-side mirror, it's completely gone. Then I look again at my wife's car, and she has no door handle.  And when I'm walking back up to the door [house door] I find there's a hole in the window [from a rock]. Thank God it only went through the first layer. So, they smashed two mirrors on my wife's car and her door handle and completely ripped off my mirror on my Jeep and then threw a rock through the first layer of my house window."

Farinelli met his future wife while working in the filming industry.

"I fly both flags. I'm American, I married myself a Canadian. She was raised in High River. Everyone in High River knows the two flags always fly in front of my house. I understand people are angry, too each their own, but to destroy someone's property is so... it's crazy. You can always agree to disagree but to destroy property is absolutely disgusting. It's a sad state of affairs really."

His wife, who's recovering from recent dental surgery, was really upset too.

"She bawled and she just had all four wisdom teeth pulled out this weekend."

Farinelli was able to talk to a neighbour who witnessed the incident and from what his neighbour told him, it wasn't just some kid vandalizing property.

"I thought it was going to be a kid, but after my neighbour saying it was a six-foot tall man that just did it and ran. My neighbour seen a guy, a tall guy and all in black. He saw it happen and tried to take a picture but it's blurry. I've been here for five, six years and I've never, ever had this happen and just because I have an American flag out front, it's just a shame."

He's contacted the police and hopes the culprit is caught and faces charges.
