The Rowan House Society Radiothon was held on Thursday, March 6, and people weren't shy to show their support.

It was held at 99.7 Sun Country from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., with locals from around and beyond the Foothills donating over the phone, via text, online, and in person.

The grand total is still being calculated, but by the end of the day, community members had donated over $37,000.

The funding will support not only their emergency shelter, but their many programs including the Preventative Education Program, their Safe at Home Program, and the 24-Hour Support Line.

"The community support was unmatched, and honestly, words cannot express how grateful all of us at Rowan House Society are for the support for the community, from Vulcan County, to the MD of Willow Creek, and Foothills County. It was absolutely magnificent," said Rowan House's executive director, Linette Soldan.

She gave a shoutout to the hosts, Charlie Brown and Candice Johnson, who manned the board for the duration of the 12 hours.

"I have to say a very special thank you to Charlie and Candice. Their support and their passion for the cause of domestic violence and abuse and supporting Rowan House Society, not only today but throughout the year, has been very key."

The event also saw some special guest appearances.

"Mantracker Terry [Grant] was fantastic, and having Mayor Snodgrass and MP John Barlow be part of the cause and wanting to support Rowan House Society really made a big difference. Hearing their stories about how Rowan House has made a difference in the community also warms my heart," Soldan said.

On top of the event's hosts, guests, and donors, Soldan thanked the staff and volunteers for their tireless work throughout the year.

"We could not do the work we do without their commitment, their dedication, and their unconditional warmth for the community and to the clients we serve."
