Just after 4 a.m. yesterday, the Winnipeg Police Service was called to an apartment complex in the 100 block of Young Street for the report of a stabbing.

When officers arrived, they found a 28-year-old man suffering from stab wounds to his upper body. Officers applied a chest seal while waiting for paramedics to arrive. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition where he underwent emergency surgery.

An investigation revealed that the victim was approached and stabbed by a group of suspects while in the 600 block of Portage Avenue. They fled the area before police arrived, stealing nothing from the victim.
