Drivers in Airdrie and surrounding areas are facing difficult road conditions Monday morning as snow and ice continue to impact major highways and city streets.

The QEII in both directions is partly covered in snow, with icy sections, slush, blowing snow, and slippery surfaces. Visibility remains fair as snowfall continues.

North of Airdrie towards Crossfield, Highway 2A, from the Highway 72 junction to Township Road 292, is fully covered in snow, with similar conditions, including icy sections, slush, and blowing snow. Shoulders on both highways are also impacted by ice and snow buildup.

Within Calgary, major routes frequently used by Airdrie commuters—including Deerfoot Trail and Stoney Trail (Highway 201) —are also snow-covered, with slippery conditions making travel difficult.

Snow is expected to end later this morning, followed by a mix of sun and cloud. Airdrie could see up to 2 cm of additional accumulation. Winds from the north at 30 km/h, gusting to 50, will become light in the morning.

Drivers are advised to slow down, allow extra travel time, and prepare for rapidly changing conditions.
