A 15-year-old boy from Winnipeg and a 20-year-old man from Garson, Manitoba are facing charges in connection to a violent assault late last week in the city's Westdale neighbourhood.
Officers were called to a convenience store in the 500 block of Dale Boulevard at around 9:35 p.m. last Friday where they found a 36-year-old man suffering from a stab wound to his upper body. Officers applied multiple tourniquets to the man while they waited for paramedics to arrive. The victim was transported to hospital in stable condition. The suspects fled before police arrived.
About an hour later, with help from Air1, officers were able to stop a vehicle, that they knew had been involved in the violent attack, in the 100 block of Norlone Drive. They arrested four occupants and located and seized an air pistol and machete in the vehicle.
An investigation revealed that the victim and suspects got into a verbal argument at a convenience store before parting ways. The suspects returned a short time later, armed with a machete, which they used to assault the 36-year-old victim.
