Over the weekend, the Carstar Okotoks Bisons kicked off the HJHL South Division finals against the Medicine Hat Cubs.
The Herd struck first on Friday, but it was the Cubs who came back to beat the Bisons 5-4 in overtime.
Even though the Bisons outshot the Cubs 50-28, the Bisons got into penalty trouble in the third period with the Cubs scoring a pair to tie it up and send the game into O.T.
Kyle Woolridge scored the O.T. winner, his second goal of the night and third point in the game.
Game two in the Hat went much better for the Herd as they dominated the Cubs 7-1 on Sunday.
Bisons forward Sam Callahan exploded for a natural hat trick in the first period, with the team adding four more goals in the third period as they skated to a 7-1 victory.
Zephyr Laplante scored two of the four goals in the third with McCallum Bakken adding a goal and two helpers on the night. Easton Dean notched the other Bisons goal.
Dylan Walker backstopped the Bisons for the win, as Connor White played net in game one.
Game three in the best of five series goes this Tuesday, March 11 at 8 p.m. at the Murray Arena.
