It was a successful weekend for the U-13 Sage girls' team with the Strathmore Soccer Association (SSA).

They were given trophies on Sunday, March 9 after recording an undefeated season.

According to staff with the group, the SSA is part of the Calgary Minor Soccer Association.

Laura Taylor, a parent with the club said it's been an exciting season.

"Many of the girls have played together for over two and a half years. They have really gelled and worked hard with practices."

This year the team ended the season with a record of 14-1-0 with their only loss coming from a forfeit due to weather.

Quinn Taylor, a player with the team said that the club practiced hard.

"We're looking forward to next year to maybe do this again. We've had great coaches that have helped us get this award and team managers."

Quinn told StrathmoreNow that she loves the game.

"I like working with people, scoring goals, just mainly having lots of teamwork, putting in effort."

Laura mentioned the association is still trying to recruit more players.

"There's a try-it-out youth night on Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Strathmore Motor Products Sports Centre."

The club is also looking for youth and adult volunteers to become referees.
