A Claresholm man is facing charges after police found copper wire, methamphetamine, a rifle, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition in his vehicle.
Officers from the Nanton RCMP detachment responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle on Tuesday, Feb. 18.
According to the RCMP, upon stopping the vehicle, officers noted that the driver was "known to police" and they soon determined that he was not permitted to drive and the vehicle was neither registered nor insured.
The driver, 28-year-old Jaden Ross Vincent, was arrested after an officer spotted a firearm in the vehicle.
after searching the vehicle, officers recovered:
- Over 18 grams of Methamphetamine.
- A .22 caliber rifle.
- A large quantity of stripped copper wire.
- break in tools including a balaclava, two-way radios.
- A restricted empty rifle magazine.
- approximately 600 rounds of ammunition.
The RCMP have since linked items found in the truck to break-ins in the Claresholm area.
Vincent faces the following charges:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- Possession of a firearm/weapon/device/ ammunition in a motor vehicle.
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Schedule I: methamphetamine.
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Macleod on March 26, 2025.
