Chestermere has several capital funding projects planned for this year.

"A capital budget is a plan for acquiring, maintaining, and replacing a municipality’s physical assets. It’s part of the annual budget and based on revenue projections," mentioned the city in a news release.

"An operating budget outlines spending on day-to-day operations, including employee salaries, utilities, and facility maintenance."

According to the city, it prepares a yearly capital plan and a 5-year plan.

"The capital budget is funded by grants, surplus accounts, levies, and utility rates. The operating budget is funded by property taxes, grants, investment revenue, and service charges."

A few of the key projects include raised crosswalks, the construction of a community services rental space, new land for a fire station, the paving of Sunset Beach parking lot, the twinning of Chestermere Boulevard, road access, the high school site, and Rainbow Road North.

Chestermere's 2025 capital budget is set at $25.1 million.
