Emergency service crews in the M.D. of Willow Creek and the M.D. of Ranchland recently had their hands full.

The strong winds the region saw last Sunday caused a hectic 27 hours for emergency service crews.

The five fire stations in the area responded to four fires, six motor vehicle collisions, one potential ice rescue, one smoke investigation, and one property damage in that 27-hour period.

As part of a Facebook post from the M.D. of Willow Creek, they expressed their gratitude to one of the other fire departments for helping out.

"A special shoutout to Vulcan County Emergency Services for assisting our crews with one of the fires and helping protect our community," the post said. "To the AHS EMS crews, RCMP and Sheriffs who attended our scenes, we deeply appreciate your steadfast support of both our firefighters and residents."

They also passed along their gratitude to the neighbours and local equipment operators who stepped up during the fires, saying they are the heart of rural living.

"Your willingness to lend a hand in times of need truly defines our community."
