Students from Strathmore High School listened to six presenters share their careers in new media.
On Wednesday afternoon, over 30 students went to the Learning Commons.
Speakers discussed industries like podcasting, information technology, photography, sales, and news broadcasting.
"I think a lot of these interviews help make it seem more realistic and practical," said student Aley Kuenzl.
Student Raine Schraa also took part in the event and chatted with presenters.
"It takes a lot of trial and error to get to where you want to be."
Karen Galandy, a guidance counsellor with the school said last year the group changed the event from communications to new media.
"We felt that captured more of what students are interested in and better described to them the jobs that we were going to be offering."

There's one career fair left this year in April which will highlight aviation.
"We just wanted to make kids aware of a lot of different things that you can do in that area," added Galandy.
Gabi Lemoine, a social media influencer, is an alumna from Strathmore High School.
"I love to come and talk to students and tell them what I do. I think it's a very unique career. Basically, I create lifestyle and fashion content on TikTok and YouTube."
Lemoine makes a lot of her income from affiliate marketing, brand deals, and YouTube AdSense.
Adam Seely, an account executive with Pattison Outdoor Advertising also delivered a presentation about his career.
"I work with small, medium-sized business owners, marketing managers that are local, and retail-based."

Seely sells his customers ad space and helps them to build their brand.
"I love that the students are interested in learning about the media and it's exciting for me to be able to share it and answer their questions."
Galandy told StrathmoreNow the school is also open to new suggestions for career fairs.
The school has previously done fairs on the trades, agriculture, and health care.
