Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for parts of southern Manitoba, with strong gusts reaching up to 90 km/h this morning.

Areas under the warning include Morden, Winkler, Altona, Morris, Steinbach, St. Adolphe, Emerson, Vita, and Richer. The winds are expected to ease this afternoon and diminish further this evening.

Environment Canada warns that the strong winds may cause damage to buildings, including roof shingles and windows, and could knock down tree branches or power lines, leading to possible utility outages.

Loose objects may become dangerous projectiles, and motorists, especially those in high-profile vehicles, should be prepared for hazardous driving conditions due to strong crosswinds.

Winds will be northwest at 40 km/h and gusting to 60 to begin the day, and then increasing to 60 and gusting to 80 this morning before easing this afternoon.

The high will be -7°C, with wind chills making it feel like -23 this morning and -17 this afternoon.
