A Winnipeg family is asking for prayer and support after their North Kildonan home went up in flames over the weekend.
"I am absolutely in shock and saddened by the fire that consumed my son's house," said Larry Hobson, father of the family whose home went up in flames. "My son, his partner and his five kids made it out alive and lost everything."
The fire started around 7:45 p.m. on Saturday in a single-family, bi-level home on Hathaway Road.
Heavy smoke and flames were pouring out of the house when crews arrived. However, firefighters were able to enter the home and fight the fire from inside. The blaze was extinguished about half an hour later.

"My son is grateful that nobody was hurt and possessions can be replaced but sadly he had no fire insurance and they lost everything to this fire!" said Hobson in a post on social media. "I am asking anyone to help with any kind of donations. Please know any donations will go a long way to starting over."
Hobson says the children in the home range from eight months to 11 years old.
Anyone interested in helping the family can drop off donations at room 401 at the Quality Inn at 635 Pembina Highway.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
