A 31-year-old Winnipeg man is facing drug charges after thousands of dollars worth of cocaine was found in a Varsity View apartment complex.

The Winnipeg Police Service received information in March that a man was trafficking illicit drugs from his residence.

Last week, on March 12, officers executed a search warrant on a suite of an apartment complex in the 100 block of Hendon Avenue.

One person was arrested without incident and found to be carrying 46 grams of cocaine, worth an estimated $4,600 during his arrest.

A search of his suite led officers to locate and seize approximately 207 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of around $20,700, drug packaging, contaminated scales and cell phones.

The 31-year-old suspect is facing a charge of possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

He was released via an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
