Gladys Edna Ferguson
August 16, 1927 – March 15, 2025

The death of Gladys Edna (nee Seckinger) Ferguson of Central Parkland Lodge, Lanigan, SK, (and formerly of Pilger, SK), occurred at her residence on Saturday, March 15, 2025. She was 97 years of age. Gladys was born to Carl and Adelia (nee Meirke) Seckinger in Nipawin, SK, on August 16th, 1927. She was the youngest of four brothers and two sisters. Gladys attended school and completed her grade 8. She began grade 9 but became sick and quit and never went back. She spent the next few years of her life staying home and helping her mother. Glays married Lloyd Ferguson on June 20th, 1946; it was the happiest day of her life because she had found her partner forever. They were blessed with five children, Cameron, Bonnie, Shelly, Timothy and Todd. Gladys and Lloyd farmed and ran Co-op stores. They eventually moved to Pilger to run a General Store. Later, Lloyd went to work in Melville, SK, as a carpenter and Gladys was left to run the store on her own with the help of her children after school. Gladys was proud of her accomplishments as a business owner and store manager as well as her ability to manage and organize the books. Outside of managing the business and raising her family, Gladys also maintained a well-kept home that she was very proud of. Believe it or not, she did have free time in which she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, embroidery, as well as watching curling and baseball. Gladys moved to Central Parkland Lodge on December 4th, 2017. She was known as one of the best-dressed residents at CPL, always coordinating her outfits and jewelry. Her hair was always on par, and she was always smiling. Gladys’ motto in life was “love and kindness” and she passed it on whenever she could. Gladys is lovingly remembered by her children, 12 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren: Cameron’s family, Angela Poole, Chad (Wendy) Ferguson, and Kimberly (Jon) Ponath; Bonnie (Glen) Romaniuk of Camrose, AB, and their family, Brad (Jolene) and Gina (Shawn) Young; Shelly Ford (Monty Heiser) of Saskatoon, SK, and family, Jasmine (Brandon) Entwistle and Sloane (Alanna) Harder; Timothy (Dianne) of Winnipeg, MB, and family, Matthew, Daniel (Kelly), and Kierra (Braeden) Ferguson-Edwards; Todd (Norrie) of Warman, SK, and family, Justin Reid and Regan; as well as her former daughter-in-law Karen Ferguson, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Gladys was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Lloyd (2006); her son Cameron (2016); grandson-in-law Murray Poole (2018); great-grandson Jayden Poole (2023); her parents Carl and Adelia Seckinger; and her siblings Lloyd, Lester, Clarence, Adolf, Alfred, Pearl and Ruby. The Funeral Service was held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Humboldt, SK, on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Clint Magnus. The organist was Elaine Siegel. The eulogy was delivered by Tim Ferguson. Pallbearers were Jasmine Entwistle, Sloane Harder, Karen Ferguson, Chad Ferguson, Damon Ferguson, and Justin Reid. Inurnment will take place at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Middle Lake, SK, at a later date.
