March has been declared by the Government of Saskatchewan to be recognized as Pharmacy Appreciation month. Health Minister Jeremy Cockrill explained the decision as an opportunity to recognize the important work done by pharmacists and described them as highly trained professionals.

In efforts to better patient healthcare in the province, pharmacists have been given the ability to prescribe patients for various conditions ever since they were allowed to prescribe for three ailments in 2012. Currently, they can prescribe 34 different aliments, which can be found at the Government of Saskatchewan website.

Pharmacists also get help from pharmacy technicians and assistants. These allow pharmacists to focus on the most important aspects of their practice. This makes pharmacists much more accessible and lets them improve on their skills more easily.
