The Winnipeg Humane Society has welcomed its new Chief Executive Officer.
Christina Von Schindler will take on the new role later this spring.
Von Schindler is a life-long advocate for animal welfare and a rescue dog parent. She has also been an active member of the WHS Board of Directors since 2023.
“Christina brings an exceptional combination of expertise, dedication, and compassion to her new role as CEO,” says WHS Board Chair Howard Almdal. “Her passion for animal welfare and her commitment to community care strongly align with the values of the WHS. We are confident that her leadership will be instrumental in strengthening the WHS’ strategic pillars, enabling us to expand our impact and continue creating meaningful change for animals and the community we serve."
Von Schindler brings over a decade's worth of experience from her role as Chief Privacy Officer for Shared Health and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. During that time, she led and coordinated provincial initiatives to uphold privacy rights through shared standards, policies, and processes across Manitoba’s health system.
Before that work, Von Schindler held leadership roles in the charitable sector at Sara Riel and Manitoba Possible.
Christian will officially take on her new CEO position effective May 1, 2025.
