The Strathmore Municipal Library is hosting "A Little Taste of Francophonie" this weekend.
The event is in partnership with Family and Community Support Services (FCSS), and Canadian Parents for French Alberta (CPFA), and will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the library on Saturday, Mar. 22.
"It's just about hosting an event that might get the word out that we do have a French program in Strathmore, and it's really important just to give people information about it," said Monique LeFort, co-chair with the Strathmore Branch of CPFA.
The program features traditional French games, cultural insights, and a sugar shack breakfast.
"Traditionally, a sugar shack breakfast would include pancakes, sausages, baked beans, and maple syrup, so we're just trying to duplicate that on a smaller scale," added LeFort.
The event also highlights the French immersion program hosted by Ecole Brentwood School.
"I think it's good for the people of Strathmore to know that there is a French community in Strathmore, and that on another level we do have a French program in which children can be educated in a second language."
The event is free to attend with no registration required.
