Two people have been charged after an investigation by the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) into the non-consensual distribution of intimate images.
In January 2025, the WPS Domestic Violence Unit received a report from a woman alleging that an adult male, with whom she had been in a previous relationship, had created and distributed intimate images of her without consent.
Police say in a news release that on January 9, the images were sent to a school division official where the woman was employed. That school division official then forwarded the content to additional individuals for further review.
The suspect, an adult male, was arrested on January 15 and charged with voyeurism, administering a noxious substance with intent, two counts of assault, unlawfully being in a dwelling house, assault by choking, suffocating, or strangling, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, distributing an intimate image without consent, and disobeying a court order. He was detained in custody.
Following further investigation and forensic analysis, the school division official was arrested on March 20, 2025.
The official has been charged with distributing an intimate image without consent and was released on an undertaking.
