Rocky View Schools (RVS) has asked for a meeting with the new Infrastructure Minister to discuss RVS’s infrastructure needs.

According to RVS, the Board is committed to advocating to the government on priorities focused on providing students with an education and school experience that supports them in achieving their absolute best

"As part of those efforts, the Board sent a letter to the new Infrastructure Minister, Martin Long, congratulating him on his appointment and asking for a meeting to discuss RVS’ infrastructure needs."

A letter regarding the board's concerns about the current process for approving charter schools was also sent to Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides.

"A second letter was sent to Minister Nicolaides expressing the Board’s appreciation for the most recent capital plan project approvals and the change to the education funding model announced in Budget 2025. The Board will continue to advocate for a steady stream of new school approvals and a funding model that funds every student annually."

Also, at the latest trustee meeting,  the trustees approved the 3-Year Capital Plan priority list.

The top seven priorities, according to Rocky View Schools, include:

  1. Cochrane - 9-12 school in the community of Horse Creek.
  2. Cochrane - K-8 school in the community of Heartland.
  3. Airdrie - 7-9 school in the community of Cobblestone Creek.
  4. Chestermere - K-9 school in the community of Clearwater Park.
  5. Crossfield - K-8 school in the community of Vista Crossing.
  6. Airdrie - K-9 school in the community of Wildflower or Vantage Rise.
  7. Springbank Middle - An addition to the school.

Earlier in the month, it was announced that Airdrie has received planning funding for a new K-9 (Rocky View Schools) school in the community of Lanark as part of the Alberta government's latest investment in school infrastructure.
