The Man Van is making its first return to Airdrie this year in May.
Canada’s first mobile men’s health clinic, the Man Van, offers free PSA (prostate-specific-antigen) blood testing used for early detection of prostate cancer. Men between the ages of 40 and 70 are the targeted group to get tested.
On May 6th from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m., the Man Van will be at 800 East Lake Boulevard Northeast (Genesis Place) to offer free blood testing.
Angela Barabash, the Marketing Coordinator for the Man Van, talked about why it's important to get checked.
"One in six Alberta men are going to be diagnosed with prostate cancer, that's a crazy statistic."
She explained that if your PSA is elevated, they can help you through the process.
"Airdrie is very good for coming out and supporting the Man Van and supporting men's health."
They will also be offering mental heath checks along with the free PSA blood tests to see how you are doing.
"15 minutes can save your life. Between doing your registration at the table and going in to get your blood drawn, it's simple and easy."
Since the Man Van first started operations back in 2009, they have tested 74,000 men, serving around 7,000 each year.
