The Kinderlsey Jr. Klippers season ended on Saturday night inside the Northern Lights Palace Arena after a 5-2 loss to the Melfort Mustangs.
After an overtime win last Wednesday kept their season alive, the league's top team in the Mustangs proved their mite Saturday to clinch the series in five games.

Game 5 started with a scoreless first ten minutes, before Logan Belton started the scoring for Melfort on the powerplay. After a penalty filled first things calmed down in the second, but Reilley Kotai's fourth of the series for Melfort made it 2-0 headed into the third.
Three more Mustangs goals before the ten-minute mark had the Mustangs smelling victory up 5-0, as Russ Demo scored halfway through the final frame to make it 5-1, hometown Klipper Ethan Sautner scoring his second of the playoffs with under five minutes left to make the final score 5-2.
Melfort joined Yorkton as the only other team to earn a spot in Round 2 so far after the Terriers took down the Melville Millionaires in five games. Other first round series have Flin Flon up 3-2 over Humboldt, and Weyburn holding a 3-2 lead over the Battlefords.
