Olds will impose Level 2 water restrictions on Thursday at 7:00 a.m. as the town upgrades the South Reservoir. The restriction will last 24 hours, with updates provided once the work is complete.

While the North Reservoir will remain fully operational, the town will work with reduced storage capacity as the South Reservoir operates intermittently. Town officials are urging residents to conserve water during this period to maintain supply and system pressure.

Water will remain safe to drink, but water pressure will be lower, which may affect dishwashers, washing machines, and irrigation systems. Postpone use if possible.

To preserve the water supply, the following activities are not permitted:

Residential Use:

  • Watering lawns, gardens, trees, and shrubs

  • Filling pools, spas, fountains, and water features

  • Washing vehicles, homes, driveways, patios, windows, and boats

  • Using water toys

  • Outdoor ice or snow making

Non-Residential Use:

  • Watering green spaces, sports fields, and commercial properties

  • Washing driveways, patios, paths, and windows

Violators risk further restrictions or enforcement.

System Impact: What to Expect

  • Water Availability: Water will remain available, but pressure will be lower than usual.

  • Drinking Water Safety: Tap water is safe to drink throughout the restriction period.

  • Appliance Performance: Water-dependent appliances may experience reduced efficiency. Postpone use if possible.
