The Airdrie Irish Football Club are gearing up for another busy season with high hopes.

Anton Bellot, the Airdrie Irish co-head coach, talked about how excited the team is for the season to begin shortly.

"Last season, we couldn't play at Genesis with the field upgrades that were taking place. I know the guys are excited to be back at Genesis Place and to play a couple of games at a later time under the lights. So we're super ecstatic for this upcoming season."

He went on to talk about what the team is looking like right now.

"We've returned a lot of our core veterans, some also have some exciting recruits that we have as a part of the team right now."

Bellot explained that the goal for this season is to just keep getting better each week.

"Yes, there's an aspiration to go all the way 100 per cent, but we have an opportunity to do something special this season, and we just need to take it day by day.  We're not worried about tomorrow, we're not worried about yesterday, we just need to win today."

The home opener for the Airdrie Irish is May 31 against a new team in the league, the Leduc Lightning.

He concluded by saying he hopes plenty of Airdronians can come out to their games and make them city-wide events.
