The Saskatchewan Roughriders solidifed a key piece of their trenches on Monday, inking offensive lineman Logan Ferland to a two-year contract extension to keep the Saskatchewan born player in green and white through the 2027 season.
Ferland hasn't missed a game the last two seasons, playing each position of the offensive line as a versatile and consistent piece for the Roughriders. Multiple accolades during the 2024 season helped him earn his first all-star selection, and the West Division nominee for Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman.
Ferland was part of a Roughriders offensive line that only allowed just under two sacks a game, and an overall offensive unit that led West Division teams in scoring, touchdowns, and passing efficiency. The Roughriders offensive line earn the top grade in the league three times in 2024.

While Melfort is listed as his hometown, Ferland spent his childhood in Kindersley before moving to Melfort, where he played nine-man football in high school to eventually earn a spot with the Regina Thunder of the CJFL after graduation. An accomplished junior career helped Ferland earn a spot on the Roughriders practice squad as a territorial junior, cracking the roster, and going nowhere but up since his debut in 2021.

A quick look at the Roughriders website shows 53 more days until the first pre-season game. Teams will be gearing up for the season soon with the CFL Draft set for April 29, training camps opening shortly after. After the May 24 preseason opener against Winnipeg, the action begins for real June 5 at home against Ottawa.
