Environment Canada's Tuesday morning forecasts say rain will roll in this afternoon, but don’t get used to it—by late evening, the skies are expected to flip the script, trading puddles for snowdrifts as temperatures plunge to –3 C. Gusty north winds will push the wind chill closer to –9.

The snow is expected to ease by mid-afternoon Wednesday, but the cold holds on. The high is forecast at –1 C, with another round of snow possible overnight and a low of –7 C. Thursday brings a 60 per cent chance of flurries and a high near zero — followed by a nose-dive to –14 C that night under clearing skies.

And then? Flip the switch.

By Friday, sunshine returns and temperatures start climbing fast. Airdrie is expected to hit 9 C, jump to 12 C on Saturday, and peak near 19 C by Sunday and Monday.

In just four days, Airdrie’s forecast goes from snow boots to T-shirts — a 30-degree swing in wind chill, and a reminder that Alberta’s spring is less a season than a stand-up routine.
