A Collective Bargaining Agreement for over 200 employees represented by CUPE Local 9 at the City of Moose Jaw has been finalized.
The previous agreement expired on December 31, 2022, and was replaced by a tentative agreement between the two parties back in February 2025. That new agreement has since been ratified and will be in place until December 31, 2026.
Included in the new agreement are a series of retroactive wage increases, 2 per cent on January 1, 2023, 3 per cent on January 1, 2024; 1.5 per cent on January 1, 2025, and an upcoming increase of 1 per cent on July 1, 2025.
Enhancements to employee benefits and the implementation of a new joint job evaluation framework and pay structure are also included in the new agreement, which come into effect January 1, 2026.
“The City is pleased to come to this agreement,” said James Murdock, Mayor in an official statement.
“We value the work our CUPE members provide to Moose Javians, and we thank CUPE, City Council and our Administration team for finding common ground and reaching this agreement.”
“Through collaborative negotiations, we have secured important improvements in wages, benefits, and working conditions that will enhance the lives of our members and their families,” said Justine Deets, President of CUPE Local 9.
“We thank all members for their participation and support throughout this process. Your voices were heard, and together we have strengthened our union. As we move forward, we remain committed to advocating for the rights and interests of our members. We look forward to continuing our work together to ensure a fair and equitable workplace for all.”
