STARS is a critical service that takes a lot of upkeep. That's why donations to support their efforts are so important, coming from events like the April 1-2 Critical Care on the Air Radiothon for STARS, and different groups/entities around the province.
The RM of Kindersley made their most recent annual donation to STARS back in March, shared last week prior to the start of the radiothon. The cheque this year sent $25,000 towards STARS.

WestCentralOnline reached out to reeve for the RM of Kindersley, Lionel Story, to get his thoughts on the essential service.
"STARS is very important to us in our municipality, with agriculture mixing with oil. Alot of activity going on and it's just very important, especially the way the healthcare system is today." said Story mentioning the lack of doctors, especially rurally. "There is only one place really left to go, unfortunately, but it's a necessary thing we have to have."
Average operating costs for STARS come in at around $10 million yearly. The RM of Kindersley has tried to increase their donation amount year-over-year.
"I think last year we were $20,000; this year we were $25,000. Every year we have been adding to it a bit, and I think we are getting pretty comfortable where we are now."
