In a series few from Winkler or Niverville will soon forget, the Flyers managed to pull off a 3-2 win in game six to defeat the Nighthawks 4-2 in the quarter-final series.

The CRRC in Niverville was buzzing early as the home side came out strong, earning a 1-0 lead less than five minutes into the game.

Dawson Zeller continued his strong playoffs scoring his second from Aiden Corbett, putting his team up a goal.

Both teams went back and forth through the rest of the frame but the Zeller goal was the only one that hit the scoreboard through the opening 20 minutes.

Evan Panzer doubled the lead in the second, scoring his second of the playoffs from Ty Kennett, giving the Nighthawks a 2-0 lead.

Cue the Flyers comeback.

Heart and soul leader Brody Beauchemin pulled the Flyers back to within one as he notched his second of the playoffs from Brady Craik and Nicholas McKee, giving Winkler life down 2-1.

Liam Carlone, he too having himself quite the playoffs to this point, tied the game with his second of the series to make it a 2-2 contest. Trevor Dalton picked up the lone assist.

In the third, the Flyers grabbed their first lead thanks to 20-year-old Andrew Morton, who scored on a power play to put his team up 3-2. For Morton, it was his third goal in two games, as he's come alive at the perfect time for Winkler. His goal was assisted by Kam Thomas and McKee.

Time slowly drained as the Flyers managed to defeat a pesky, hard working Nighthawks club that can hold their head up high, having played an incredible series.

Goalie Leif Ekblad made 20 saves for his first MJHL playoff win, while Austin Dubinsky, perhaps the best player on either side throughout the series, finished with 36 stops.

Winkler's power play came up huge when it needed to, going 1-3 and the Flyers didn't take a penalty resulting in Nighthawks power play all night.

The Nighthawks have several graduating players including Matteo Speranza, Aiden Corbett, Sean Williams, Ty Kennett, Bryce Warkentine, Holdin Getzlaf, Henry Smith and captain Carter Spirig.
