Leadership with the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board are reporting an additional COVID-19 exposure at Valleyview Public School impacting their closed classroom.

At this time, the Northwestern Health Unit investigation has determined the additional exposure does have plausible and likely sources outside of the school.

The Northwestern Health Unit and KPDSB stress the additional exposures are not considered to be a school outbreak. Anyone not contacted directly can continue to attend school as normal.

The KPDSB first reported exposures at Valleyview Public School on November 20. As a result, one classroom has been closed and students will learn virtually to allow time for contact tracing.

The NWHU is reminding families that the most common risk of COVID-19 in our area has always been, and continues to be, contact with people in private homes. The NWHU recommends continuing to practice physical distancing when getting together with people outside of your household and masking when distancing is not possible.
